About Rachael McKriger
20. Football Enthusiast. And yes, I say football.
I've been surrounded by sports since I could walk.
It all started with football and basketball. I then started to get interested in American football. However, my first love will always be football, which my fellow Americans tend to call soccer.
I have plenty of background when it comes to sports journalism. The first website I was hired by, Pittsburgh Sports Castle, had me cover the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Riverhounds. I was then brought onto the Real Sports Entertainment Network team, where I cover the MLS, U.S. Men's and Women's National Teams and the NWSL. In December, I was hired by Pittsburgh Sporting News, where I cover the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Pittsburgh Steelers and University of Pittsburgh Men's Basketball Team.
In addition to sports journalism, I also dabble in sports photography. My business is called McKriger Photography, which I have owned and operated since March 2016. Thus far, I've taken football and basketball pictures, which you can check out on my Flickr page.
Personally, I was born in Moscow, Russia (which is probably why I say "football"). Now, I reside in Pennsylvania, where I was raised. I am 20 years old and a junior at California University of Pennsylvania. During the day, I'm either at class or down in the office of the California Times, our newspaper on campus, where I hold the position of Editor-In-Chief. At nights, I am working my job as a Copy Editor at the Herald-Standard newspaper.
On this blog, I hope people will come to enjoy the beautiful game of football. This has been my passion for years. I'm a former goalkeeper (even though I'm only 5'2), and am a die hard fan. I'll be focusing on all big soccer news, not just in the United States. However, my focus will go toward national team players from U.S. Soccer.
